Some sandhi rules in Portuguese
Abstract
Abstract: This paper is an attempt to see if Rotenberg's theory works for Portuguese. I will examine some phonological facts involving sequences of two vowels belonging to adjacent words, trying to postulate the rules that would account for them. The data will be analyzed following the general lines of Rotenberg's ideas, particularly with respect to his notion of domain of application of rules. In connection with the phenomena involving vowels, a rule of palatalization will also be investigated.
