Quis hoc credat? O leitor e as Metamorfoses de Ovídio
Resumo
ABSTRACT: This paper intends to analyze a certain relationconstructed between the reader, the poet and the poem in selectedpassages of Ovid’s Metamorphoses book I. The reading we are going topropose will reveal itself as a new understanding of the poem in faceof the recent studies which highlight the self-referential character ofovidian poetics. We intend to demonstrate, although briefly, that thereader has a highlighted role within the complex commentaries madeby the poet about his own poetry.
KEYWORDS: Latin poetry; Ovid; Metamorphoses; reader; metalanguage.
