Submissions: Call for submissions: Speech Segmentation

Revista de Estudos da Linguagem (e - ISSN 2237-2083)

International Thematic Issue Call for Papers: Speech Segmentation

It is commonly recognized that speech is perceived as being organized in small chunks, separated by boundaries of prosodic nature.  These perceived boundaries delimit major and intermediate prosodic units such as accent phrases, stress groups, intonation units and related terms. Because speech segmentation is of primary interest for all branches of Speech Science, including Linguistics, it is crucial to carefully exam the organization of linguistic relations as well as the functional organization of spoken language. For this reason, Revista de Estudos da Linguagem (FALE/UFMG) launches a call for papers to be published in a thematic issue on Speech Segmentation.

This thematic issue will foster submissions of interest for speech segmentation, such as: studies about acoustic phonetic correlates of perceived boundaries in different spoken languages and styles, tools for automatic boundary detection, perceptual studies on human speech segmentation, theoretical studies on the functions of prosodic units, and all related studies with relevance for speech segmentation. Papers are welcome to be submitted through the journal webpage until December 10th, 2017:
