Semiótica Social e Multimodalidade pelas lentes de Kress / Social Semiotics and Multimodality through the Lenses of Kress

Abstract

Resumo: Este trabalho traz uma discussão sobre Semiótica Social e Multimodalidade. Para tanto, fazemos um levantamento das principais obras que marcam o pensamento de Gunther Kress e colaboradores. Nesse sentido, ao revisitar suas obras, encontramos a presença de formulações teóricas de Michael Halliday (1978) que ancoram a visão sociossemiótica como escolha, interesse, signo motivado, todas funções que norteiam uma visão específica de linguagem e de gramática. No escopo da teoria, encontramos as contribuições do pensamento Kressiano sobre multimodalidade com interesse em explorar as formas de significação moderna. Assim, a partir desses princípios, apresentamos um conjunto de pesquisas que trazem reflexões do seu pensamento para os estudos da linguagem e comunicação.

Abstract: This article provides a discussion on Multimodal Social Semiotics. For this purpose, we gather the main works that represent the thinking of Gunther Kress and collaborators. In this sense, when reviewing his works, we found Michael Halliday’s (1978) theoretical formulations that grounded the sociosemiotic vision such as choice, interest, motivated sign, all functions that guide a specific vision of language and grammar. In the scope of the theory, we find the contributions of Kressian thought on multimodality with an interest in exploring the forms of modern meaning. Thus, based on these principles, we present a set of research that brings reflections of his thinking to the studies of language and communication.
