This paper analyses Jhumpa Lahiri’s The namesake, focusing on naming as
a metaphor for the processes of dislocation and relocation of first and
second generation of Indian immigrants in The United States. More
specifically, it depicts how an ambivalent, “mimicry” name serves in a
successful process of relocation.
